Since its opening in 1981, the Elmhurst Art Museum has remained one of the top places to visit in Elmhurst. The museum was born out of a desire to encourage people from all walks of life to get involved in art and challenge themselves to think meaningfully about it, while also supporting rotating contemporary art exhibitions. In the past, their exhibits have included solo bodies of work by well-known talents, as well as awe-inspiring works by the museum’s members and even student art exhibitions. The museum is open from 11 am – 5 pm, Tuesday – Sunday, and admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and free for kids 18 and under. Stop by soon to see their latest displays!

Kids and adults alike consider Wilder Park as one of the best Elmhurst activities around. The park is home to a popular conservatory that houses exotic plant life, group picnic areas, a large playground, tennis courts and a soccer field, and a butterfly garden that delights visitors of all ages. Throughout the year, art festivals, tree lightings, Easter egg hunts, BBQs, and more are held at Wilder Park, so there’s almost always something exciting to partake in!

Located in downtown Elmhurst in the historic Glos Family mansion, the Elmhurst History Museum is here to help visitors learn about the rich history of this wonderful city. Bring your kids to explore historical exhibits and attend educational programs and tours to learn more about the place they call home. You’ll also find a number of artifacts, documents, photographs, and more that detail the years past. Admission to the museum is free, and operating hours are Tuesday – Friday and Sunday from 1 pm – 5 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am – 5 pm.

Berens Park is ideal if you’re looking for a place with more sporting opportunities than an option like Wilder Park. Here, you’ll find a basketball court, batting cages, football fields, sand volleyball courts, and even mini-golf! There are also playgrounds and kid-friendly climbing equipment on site, as well as a well-stocked concession stand when you need to refuel.

If you’re trying to plan a simple date night, why not catch a movie at York Theatre? You can always see the latest releases here, and they often host special viewing events for a range of movies – both newer releases and older classics. They’re conveniently located in downtown Elmhurst, so if you don’t fill up on candy and popcorn, you’ll find plenty of great restaurants to grab dinner at afterward. On a budget? Stop by on a Tuesday to enjoy $5 movies all day long.
